The Trail Mix — Issue No. 2
15 boxes. 6 cities. Two new neighborhoods joined the trail in Los Altos and Alum Rock — one Dutch tulip field, one Tour de France climb. We also stepped into our first National Night Out at Hoover Park and launched our new website at book-trails.org.

This Month on the Trail
Los Altos
A little bit of the Netherlands arrived in Los Altos. Our newest box features a Netherlands-inspired landscape with a windmill, bright tulips, and a winding canal — playful, colorful, and designed to stand out in its new neighborhood.
Alum Rock
From neighborhood streets to the French Alps. Inspired by this summer’s Tour de France, our Alum Rock box features cyclists winding through an Alpine mountain landscape — a completely different style and another new story along the trail.
National Night Out
August also brought a Book Trails milestone: our first city community event. We spent the evening at Hoover Park talking with neighbors, first responders, and the Mayor of Cupertino about how Book Trails boxes are placed, stocked, painted, and cared for.
Our favorite moment came when we met people who had already been using one of our boxes without realizing it was part of a larger trail. That is exactly what we hoped Book Trails could become — something that quietly becomes part of everyday neighborhood life.
